Do you want to create a new look in your home without spending a lot of
money? You can change the look and feel of any room by adding a few
inexpensive accessories. Items such as paint, pictures, and plants can add
charm to any room in your house.
Changing the color of your walls from white to a warm pastel or a rich,
vibrant color can make an enormous difference in the room's ambiance. You can
purchase paint inexpensively at departments stores like Walmart or Sears. Try
selecting colors that will compliment or match your furnishings. For even
more style, you can add a wallpaper border to liven up the room's appearance.
Choose a border that compliments the colors of your paint. To add a
sophisticated look to any room, paint the lower portion of the wall, about
the lower three feet, in a darker color and the top half of the wall in a
softer color. Place the border over where the two colors meet. This adds a
stylish, sophisticated attraction to any room.
Pictures can add a personal touch throughout your home. Bare walls make a
house look boring and empty. To jazz up the scenery in your rooms, use a
variety of photographs on the walls in each room. Display a variety of
pictures, some of your family members and some artwork or scenery pieces.
Arrange the photographs in offset positions; it adds more interests than
simply hanging the photos side by side. Mirrors are also great to use as
decorations and can add charisma and flair to any room. When used in small
rooms, mirrors can actually help make the room appear larger. For rooms with
windows, place the mirror on the wall opposite the window.
If you don't have plants and flowers in your home, you'll be amazed at what a
difference they can make. Place a variety of plants and flowers throughout
your home. They bring warmth and style to every room in the house - the
living room, bedrooms, the kitchen, and even bathrooms. You can use live
plants and flowers or silk ones, or a combination of both. Use a variety of
settings to display your plants. Wicker baskets, decorative boxes, or vases
can be used as plant holders for silk plant arrangements. Arrange plants in
plant stands or along the top of bookcases, entertainment centers, or
shelves.
With the simple addition of color, pictures, and plants, your house will be
transformed to a more inviting and charming home.
